It was emotional for me knowing that Matt has worked extrememly hard for the past 3 years to introduce the chopper to Australian Aviation and no doubt exhilarating for Matt as he is the first person to command the MRH90 chopper in Australia. A couple of bottles of champagne were popped and a few hours were spent enjoying the fact that the aircraft is now tucked safely in its hanger!
The squadron guys were just excited to actually have an aircraft!! They have been filling up their time with PT (physical training) 5 days per week with Thursday afternoon sport included. Now they will be able to do PT 5 days per week, Thursday afternoon sport AND go to the hanger and admire their new chopper (still no flying for a while yet!).
