We have successfully moved into our new home in Townsville. We are still sorting oursevles out and have been experiencing computer problems so I apologise for not updating sooner. So far we have played at the water park, swam at the new 'Lagoon' and scoped out the best coffee spots... and we've only been here 2 weeks! Hopefully we'll be able to amuse ourselves for the next 2 years! The last month has been full of adventure.
The Saturday we left camping was the beginning of a very hectic few days in Brisbane. Saturday evening we farewelled good friends Sue and Dave who are now living in the UK. Sue and Dave have been wonderful friends and we have shared many a curry and wine with these guys! Sunday morning was the long awaited Wiggles Concert! It was lots of fun and we loved watching the awe and excitement in the boys faces as the show unfolded! We celebrated Lucy’s 1st Birthday party on Sunday afternoon and the boys enjoyed playing with good friends Matt, BJ, Annie, Lucy and Amelie once again.
Matt had a 3 hour exam Monday morning while the boys and I had doctors appointments and sleeps to catch up on! The afternoon involved hair appointments and last minute shopping. The pinnacle of Matt’s work for the last 3 years was an invite only ceremony for the introductions of the MRH90 helicopter held at the airport on Tuesday morning. Although families were not on the invite list we did manage to hang around to see the MRH90 do one of their first flights in Australia! The aircraft is due to arrive in Townsville next week so we look forward to seeing them fly more often.
A two day drive got us to Melbourne to celebrate the marriage of my little brother Peter and gorgeous wife Kelly. The unfortunate bad weather for December in the middle of a drought resulted in the wedding being held on an isolated day of freezing cold winds and rain! They had an excellent photographer who captured absolutely stunning shots despite the freak weather. It was great to spend a night out with the family at the reception and to hear dad somehow include a story about his plane crash into his father of the groom speech! Peter and Kelly of course looked absolutely stunning and had the whole family in tears as she walked down the isle! They enjoyed a wonderful honeymoon in the Cook Islands over Christmas and we look forward to seeing them again as husband and wife.
We spent the following day with the Grills on the farm and the 'Clay' Christmas on Christmas Eve. These photos can be seen in the photo albulm 'Grill's Christmas '07'. Christmas day was driving to Melbourne for the North family Christmas. In two days the boys scored incredibly well with all their Christmas gifts and created a headache for Matt as he tried to visualise how it would all fit into the car! We spent a week in Melbourne hanging out with friends and family. Matt spent a day at the cricket while I was able to catch up on some much needed rest. We hung out with good friends Nicole and Jeff who have returned from Canada for a year. It is so good to have them back in Oz for the next 12 months.
New Years Eve was spent with an afternoon pool party at my mum and dad's followed by dinner at a restaurant. Funnily enough we were able to spend the evening with good friends all from Bris Vegas!! It was fun hanging out with some of the 'old crew' from Rivercity Church and who would have thought we'd be in Melbourne together?! New Years day was spent driving back to the farm to enjoy a relaxing time with Matt's family.
Thomas celebrated his fourth birthday at the farm and he had such a great day! One of the favourite birthday presents was his spiderman suit which he still likes to wear despite the fact that it is extrememly HOT outside! Thomas loved taking his friends and family out for a hay ride with Grandpa Norman. The cake was a big hit... at least a big hit was needed to break the cake!
