Well... not exactly! Our good friends Nicole and Jeff, with their sons Josiah and Matthew made the trek to far north Queensland to visit us. We call them our Canadian friends despite the fact that Nicole is from Melbourne and we met many years ago as young exchange students on our way to Finland. Nicole met a lovely Canadian man and has lived there ever since! With 12 months back in Australia it was wonderful to be able to actually spend some quality time with them and their gorgeous little boys.
There are only a few words to describe our household for 10 days with 5 boys under 5 and 2 pregnant women:
busy, loud, crazy and fun (a dare I say it... hormonal?!!).
The boys enjoyed playing trains together and despite the enormous number of Thomas the Tank engines there didn't seem to be enough. Each boy wanted to have a train with at least 20 engines long!
Some of the highlights were sharing fish'n'chips on the Strand and having a birthday cake for Josiah who turns 3 this weekend;
another day trip over to Magnetic Island on the ferry (definitely a highlight for the boys!);
a visit to the aquarium and of course enjoying their friendship on a daily basis. Nicole and I managed a night to the movies while our men graciously offered to mind all the boys.
Matt and I also took on the challenge of caring for all 5 boys while Nicole and Jeff could enjoy a day snorkeling at the reef. With 5 boys and a morning at church we thank God we are not having twins!! Counting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 constantly! It was quite an experience! All the boys were good and we managed to have some time with all 5 children asleep which was lovely!
